The thinking behind the toolkit
A skills guide,
not a rulebook.
Small, practical instructions for the moments when working with a coding agent needs more direction.
Made by Peng Xiao
This guide brings together skills for understanding a problem, recovering context, working through a task, and checking the result. Choose what fits your work; the catalogue is not a required sequence.
The source and complete packages live in the public GitHub repository. The human guides explain the skills. Each package’s SKILL.md is the agent’s source of instructions.
Useful habits, kept explicit
Some skills produce diagrams or recover previous decisions. Others add a deliberate pause before implementation or a check before merging. Autonomous work has its own boundaries and setup requirements, described on the relevant skill pages.
Sources and licences
The original Field Guide was inspired by Thariq’s field guide to Fable. This website is adapted from AI Hero’s skills guide; the source is available in our AI Hero fork. Our skill content and installation packages remain in the MrCoder repository.
Licences apply to individual packages where included. The history package includes an MIT licence. This site does not claim that every skill or the whole repository shares that licence. Check a package’s source before reusing it.
