Install skills for Claude Code and Codex.

Set up your toolkit

Install the skills.

Use the skills CLI for Claude Code or Codex, or install the managed Claude Code plugin.

Install with the skills CLI

Run the command in your project directory. You need Node.js 22.20.0 or newer, npm (which provides npx), Git, and network access. The interactive installer lets you choose skills, agents, and installation scope.

npx skills@latest add https://github.com/MrCoder/mrcoder.github.io/tree/master

The default is a project installation. Claude Code discovers project skills in .claude/skills; Codex uses .agents/skills. The installer offers symlink or copy installation. Choose global installation in the terminal, or add --global, when you want the skills across projects. Global agent directories are ~/.claude/skills for Claude Code and ~/.codex/skills for Codex.

Install one skill

Choose a skill and, optionally, your agent. Dependencies and backwards-compatible aliases are included when a skill needs them.

Claude Code plugin

The managed plugin packages the same skills for Claude Code. Register the MrCoder marketplace, then install the plugin. The marketplace is maintained by MrCoder.

1. Add the marketplace

claude plugin marketplace add 'https://github.com/MrCoder/mrcoder.github.io.git#master'

2. Install the plugin

claude plugin install mrcoder-skills@mrcoder

Use the plugin namespace when invoking a skill, for example /mrcoder-skills:diagram. The plugin includes all eleven skills and the renhua alias.

Ask your agent to use a skill

Open your agent in the project and name the skill in your request:

Use no-bs to explain this error in plain language.

Each skill page has a specific example and requirements. Plugin skills use their documented plugin namespace. Skills guide the agent; they do not remove permission or review boundaries.

Update your skills

For skills CLI installations, run:

npx skills update

Keep your own changes separately before updating. For the Claude Code plugin, update its marketplace and plugin:

claude plugin marketplace update mrcoder
claude plugin update mrcoder-skills@mrcoder

Package and platform notes

  • search-conversation-history includes an executable, source, scripts, and reference files. Installing the package and building the local history index are separate steps. Follow its setup guide.
  • overnight also needs unattended. The individual install command includes both packages.
  • The history package includes an Apple Silicon macOS binary. Other platforms need the documented source build.

For manual installation, inspect the source packages and copy the complete skill directory into your agent’s skills directory.

Optional ZIP downloads

Download the complete package and checksum before extracting:

Run verification in the directory containing both downloaded files:

# macOS
shasum -a 256 -c search-conversation-history.zip.sha256
# Linux
sha256sum -c search-conversation-history.zip.sha256

Only extract after verification passes. For manual updates, use a fresh directory before replacing the installed package; extracting over it can leave removed files behind.
