Understand and recover
The /search-conversation-history Skill
Recover earlier discussions and decisions from local agent history.

When to use it
A decision spans sessions or tools, changed over time, or needs dated evidence.
Try it with your agent
/search-conversation-history Why did we choose the current deployment approach? What you get
- A reconciled answer with source, timestamp, and session references.
- Freshness and missing-source limitations.
- Elapsed time and available request-boundary usage counts.
Requirements and boundaries
- Python 3.11+ and shell execution access.
- Apple Silicon macOS is the verified native platform. Intel macOS, Linux, and Windows need Rust/Cargo and a C compiler to build the included source; these platforms are unverified for this release.
- Local history stores from Codex, Claude Code, or Cursor. Cursor IDE store detection is macOS-specific.
Installation and indexing are separate. After installation run python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/history.py index; the skill refreshes once per search request.
The index stays local and reads visible user and assistant messages. Tool output and reasoning require a targeted raw-evidence lookup when needed. No API key or model call is needed for the local CLI.
The default index is ~/.local/share/visible-conversation-search/index.sqlite. Missing or stale coverage cannot prove that a discussion never happened.
Use benchmark as the first argument only when you want an explicit workflow comparison.
Optional download: /downloads/search-conversation-history.zip and /downloads/search-conversation-history.zip.sha256. Verify with shasum -a 256 -c on macOS, or sha256sum -c on Linux. ZIP extraction overlays existing files.
The package includes the executable, Rust source, Python helpers, tests, provenance, and license notices. Cargo may download build dependencies on other platforms.
Install with the official skills CLI. Version 1.7.0 requires Node.js 22.20.0 or later, npm/npx, Git, and network access. The command pins this catalogue’s source branch to master; @latest may change CLI requirements.
Installation defaults to the current project. The CLI lets you select agents and symlink or copy files; add --global only when you want a user-wide installation. Update with npx skills update. Review local changes before updating; this catalogue does not provide a backup guarantee.
Install search-conversation-history

npx skills@latest add https://github.com/MrCoder/mrcoder.github.io/tree/master --skill search-conversation-historyOptional complete package: Download ZIP · SHA-256 checksum. Verify before extracting.
Build the local history index
For a project installation, run the command for your agent from the project root. Use the global path only when you chose global installation.
